DAYBREAK REMOVED?! HERE’S WHY I CHANGED HATS PACK FOREVER

In this video, we’re going to answer one of the biggest questions surrounding the latest HATS Pack release.

    Why was Daybreak removed?

Contrary to what many users believe, Daybreak isn’t a standalone project. It’s actually one of the components distributed together with Atmosphere. So why would I intentionally remove it from HATS Pack?

In this guide, I’ll explain the reasoning behind that decision, introduce the new unified workflow built around HATS Tools, and demonstrate how to update both HATS Pack and your firmware without relying on Daybreak.

We’ll cover several update scenarios, including users coming from other custom firmware packs, users already running HATS Pack, updating without a PC, updating SysMMC the recommended way, and updating EmuMMC using either online firmware downloads or local firmware files stored on your SD card.

Along the way, I’ll also explain why Hekate has been renamed to Hekatos, why firmware updates should always be your own decision—not something you do out of habit—and the philosophy behind simplifying workflows without taking away user choice.

    ⚠️ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

Updating your firmware is entirely optional.

If your current setup already does everything you need, there is absolutely nothing wrong with staying on your existing firmware.

This video demonstrates the workflow I personally recommend.

For maximum compatibility across all hardware, including Picofly and RP2040-based installations, I recommend updating SysMMC through Nintendo’s official online update process, while using HATS Tools for EmuMMC firmware updates.
