This video will show you how to install custom firmware on your New Nintendo 2DS XL using hardmod method. There is a softmod method to install custom firmware by using a DSiWare transfer, but it needs a second console that has been modded before. And both consoles need to be in the same region and at the same firmware version. And if you missed a step, then you need at least two weeks to start it all again.

This method is not for everyone, because it requires soldering and courage. You also need an Anker card reader to read the console NAND perfectly. If you have a decent technical skill, then this method is the simplest and efficient.
